Great Easter Pickle Race of 2011

We were blessed with 17 kids and great weather for this 28th Pickle Race. There was a good stiff breeze for the sailing and just enough to keep the temperature down for the land events.  A very fun time was enjoyed by everyone. We want to mention and express our appreciation for those who helped and for the skippers who participated this year. They are ....

  • To Rich Brown and Elizabeth Calhoon, who gave a pile of goodies, but could not attend.
  • Special thanks to Clarence and Evelyn Sanchez, who worked at setting up the whole thing, doing a pile of Easter Eggs and a bunch of dog cooking.
  • To Venus Sanford of the Coronado Optimist club, for a bunch of work and $100.00 to the cause.
  • To Pat Byrnes for conducting the games---lots of fun for all.
  • To Ron and Nadine Crom for putting up with the participants and for all their support towards the RGYC.
  • To Wal-Mart, for $100.00 of goods, for the kids.
  • To PNM, for their support for the past 28 years in this really great event.

Now for 2012----- We are getting set to do this again. Everyone start thinking Kids—Kids---Kids!!

This will again be the event of the year, for those who want to do something connected with Sailing and which will make a positive impression on a bunch of kids who are having a hard time getting enough of the right impressions right now. The Ranches of New Mexico have provided this greatly needed guidance in the past, and will continue to do so, and provides all this positive growth in these kids. We are just a little something extra set aside for them one day a year.
